Greenwood estate was a coffee plantation established by the british colonial planters in 1840 s. After the coffee virus called “ Hemileia Vastratrica” destroyed the coffee plantation in Ceylon the Greenwood estate was diverted to a tea plantation. Since 1960 it was under the management of british planters. After that the ownership came over to Sri Lankans. From 1968 to date the estate has been under the ownership of Bandara family for three generations. It is situated in the Nawalapitiya, Kotmale region at an elevation of 2575 ft above sea level. |
